Alternative Links for Betting Sites: Domains, Redirects and Safer Access

Betting websites do not always operate under a single web address. Depending on the country, technical infrastructure or changes made by an operator, users may encounter alternative links, regional domains, redirects or mirror domains leading to a betting platform.

Alternative-Link.bet is an independent information project focused on explaining how these addresses work, why they appear and — most importantly — how users can verify a domain before trusting it.

Because availability, licensing and regulations differ between countries, our information is organised by market rather than simply by bookmaker.

What is an alternative link?

An alternative link is a web address different from the domain a user normally associates with a particular website or service.

There are several reasons why different addresses can exist. A company may operate regional domains for individual countries, migrate from one domain to another or use redirects as part of its technical infrastructure. In some markets, users may also encounter addresses described as alternative domains or mirror sites.

These terms are sometimes used interchangeably, although technically they do not always mean exactly the same thing.

A redirect, for example, automatically sends a visitor from one URL to another. An alternative domain is a separate web address used to reach a service, while the term mirror is commonly used for a website or domain intended to provide access to the same or very similar platform.

The important question is therefore not simply whether an alternative address exists.

It is where that address ultimately leads and who controls it.

Why can the domain be different?

There is no single explanation that applies to every betting website or every country.

Different domains can be connected with regional operations, technical migrations, changes in infrastructure or the way an operator manages access from different markets.

The situation can also change over time.

A domain used today may be replaced in the future, while an address appearing in one country may never be used in another. This is one reason why Alternative-Link.bet does not maintain one universal list of links for the entire world.

Instead, we look at individual markets separately.

A familiar-looking website is not enough

One of the biggest mistakes when dealing with alternative domains is assuming that a website must be genuine because it looks identical to the original.

Logos, colours, login forms and entire page layouts can be copied.

The presence of HTTPS and the padlock icon is important for an encrypted connection, but it does not by itself prove that a website belongs to the company you expect.

This distinction becomes particularly important when a link leads through one or more redirects.

Before entering login credentials or personal information, it is worth checking the complete domain name, the source of the link and the final address displayed by the browser.

Six things to check before using an alternative link to a betting website

Different country, different situation

Betting regulation is local.

An operator can hold licences in one or several jurisdictions while not being licensed to offer its services in another country. Similarly, the fact that a website is technically accessible does not automatically establish its legal status in a particular market.

This is why our guides are organised by country and language.

We look separately at the operators relevant to each market, the domains associated with them, their licensing information and the local context surrounding alternative addresses.

We do not assume that the same bookmaker, domain or situation applies everywhere.

Verify the domain, not just the design

Alternative domains can change. Redirects can change. Operators can reorganise their websites and regional infrastructure.

For that reason, we believe it is more useful to understand how to verify a web address than to memorise a permanent list of supposedly safe links.

Check the complete URL. Consider where the link came from. Pay attention to unexpected redirects. Be particularly careful before entering passwords, payment information or other sensitive data.

And remember one simple distinction:

A working link tells you that a website is accessible. It does not tell you who operates it, whether it is authorised in your country or whether you should trust it.

Alternative-Link.bet is designed to help users understand those differences.
